Pinhole recently celebrated its fifth anniversary in our neighborhood Bernal Heights. It's a gem of a spot, inclusive and welcoming, consistently serving up awesome coffee, tea and pastries. JoEllen, the proprietress,  encourages interactions among the neighborhood residents and visitors alike. Walking into Pinhole you are entering a space where conversation is encouraged, whether between friends or new acquaintances. JoEllen and her staff have created a neighborhood hub for breaking down social barriers. That is a beautiful concept, particularly in this time of growing anonymity in society.

In  addition to being an excellent coffee shop, Pinhole actively is engaged in community building,
decorating the walls with the work of local artists, bringing in musicians for after hours shows and presenting films, including documentaries of local businesses and residents with important stories to tell.

Whether or not you live in Bernal, it is worth your time to pop in.

Has anyone ever had an experienced shot that tasted straight up sour lemon? Well that's what it is. Hahah. Not good, in my opinion.

My gf also had there cold brew and was super bitter. Starbucks was a bit better.

Location is small, hot, and not much seating. Only reason why I gave it a 2 cause I believe this place can do better.

I can't believe I haven't reviewed pinhole yet! This is my favorite coffee shop in San Francisco. I come here multiple times per week. Sometimes I don't even need the coffee, I just want a pinhole coffee because it's so good.

It's small inside, but in a cozy way not a cramped way. It's a neighborhood spot - people are always running into each other and it's so fun to witness that type of community.

They get their beans from Linea, which has been voted one of the best roasters in SF (and I definitely agree.) I'm not sure where they get their pastries from but their everything croissant is delicious, and I usually don't like croissants but they have me getting one at least once a week.

The decor is cute and fun, there's always rotating local art on the walls and they have a nice selection of plants & coffee-related accessories to decorate the place. Some of the seats and tables are in the shape of tree stumps.

And how could I forget - the baristas really make the place! They are so friendly and kind, they make you feel like part of the community even if it's your first time there.

The ultimate tip to get the full experience is to go on sundays mid morning - there will be a line for sure but you'll get to see all of the neighborhood dogs and they're adorable!

As you can see, I have a lot to say about Pinhole! If you haven't been I highly recommend a trip up to Bernal Heights.

Cute local coffee shop with friendly baristas. They have a nice and bright store with unique chairs made of wood. It's a beautiful place to have a cup of coffee and good conversation with friends.

I ordered a cappuccino and it's priced reasonably. The cappuccino was well balanced and the art was spot on.

There is a bench seat outside if you rather get some extra rays. Overall a nice place to visit with good espresso drinks.

Nice people. The staff was very great treated me like a regular and felt sat home. I have to say I will try to come more often. No Wi-Fi but I thought that made it better. Bringing people closer. If y'all ever need Wi-Fi let me know, hit me up.
